In this engaging presentation, we will cover this year's U.S. Supreme Court labor and employment cases, we will discuss cases from other courts around the country that are important for human resources professionals, we will examine recent federal regulatory activity affecting the workplace, and we'll take a look at recent traditional labor law issues affecting HR practitioners.

We will discuss:

  • Recent Supreme Court cases for HR professionals.
  • The good, the bad, and the ugly: other court cases for HR practitioners.
  • Regulatory updates from the EEOC, DOL, OSHA, and other federal agencies.
  • Traditional labor law issues for unionized and non-unionized workplaces.

This program has been approved for 1.5 certification credit with SHRM and HRCI.

 

Speaker Bio:

Michael Blumenthal is a founding member of Seyferth Blumenthal & Harris LLC, a Kansas City-based law firm representing businesses across the United States in employment matters and business litigation. Mike was named by The Best Lawyers in America as the 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” in Kansas City in labor and employment litigation. He was recognized by Missouri Lawyers’ Weekly as one of Missouri’s 2018 “Legal Champions” for his work in a lawsuit his firm filed on behalf the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, which obtained more than $175 million for the benefit of the Kansas City community. Mike has also received numerous other professional accolades for his work as an employment lawyer and as a trial lawyer representing businesses. Mike is the past president and a former board member of the Society for Human Resource Management of Johnson County, and he is frequent speaker at human resources and employment law seminars.

We will be meeting in the Sedona Room next to the restaurant in the front of the hotel. To get tho this room, park in the front of the hotel and enter through the restaurant doors.
