In this panel discussion, we will talk with management-side lawyers, a plaintiff's lawyer, and an experience employment dispute mediator about what Human Resources professional do wrong that get employers sued. What they can do right to keep from getting sued. And why sometimes employers get sued even when they doing everything "right." This should be a lively, engaging, and entertaining debate!

We will discuss:

  • What do HR professionals do wrong that get employers sued?
  • What do HR professionals do right to prevent employers from being sued?
  • Why do employers gets sued even when they've done everything "right"?

This program has been approved for 1.5 recertification credit with SHRM and HRCI.

 

Panel Facilitator:  

Michael Blumenthal is a founding member of Seyferth Blumenthal & Harris LLC, a Kansas City-based law firm representing businesses across the United States in employment matters and business litigation. Mike was named by The Best Lawyers in America as the 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” in Kansas City in labor and employment litigation. He was recognized by Missouri Lawyers’ Weekly as one of Missouri’s 2018 “Legal Champions” for his work in a lawsuit his firm filed on behalf the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, which obtained more than $175 million for the benefit of the Kansas City community. Mike has also received numerous other professional accolades for his work as an employment lawyer and as a trial lawyer representing businesses. Mike is the past president and a former board member of the Society for Human Resource Management of Johnson County, and he is frequent speaker at human resources and employment law seminars.

There is a $5.00 off Early Bird rate in effect through February 12, 2019.  Registration closes Monday, February 18, 2018.

 

Meeting Room:

We will be meeting in a Ballroom.  When you arrive at the DoubleTree, drive around to the back of the hotel (the North side) and park in the back parking lot.  The Ballroom is near the glass north entrance doors.

SHRMJC's Cancellation Policy:  If you must cancel your reservation, please do so no later than 72-hours prior to the event. We are required to turn in the number of registered attendees to the Ritz Charles for planning purposes and must pay for the number of attendees we anticipate, whether they attend or not.
