This workshop is designed to give HR practitioners a basic understanding of HR analytics. Designed by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) this workshop will provide you with an understanding of the basic concept of HR analytics, its importance to HR and business, what HR analytics is designed to address and how to establish an analytics function within your HR department. By the end of this workshop, we want you to have reduced apprehension of analytics and set the foundation for broader and more effective use of analytics across the HR field.
During this workshop, participants will develop the knowledge and skills to:
- Understand the basic concept of HR analytics and its importance to HR and business.
- Understand what HR analytics is designed to address.
- Understand how to establish an analytics function within an HR department.
- Describe the maturation of an HR analytics function and identify your organization’s level of maturity.
- Articulate key issues related to using HR analytics for impact.
- Identify key business challenges within your organization and how to use HR analytics to address those challenges.
The goal for this workshop is to help reduce HR practitioner apprehension of analytics and set the foundation for broader and more effective use of analytics across the HR field.
This program has been approved for 1.5 re-certification BUSINESS credit with SHRM and HRCI.
Scott D. Ferrin, SHRM-SCP

Scott D. Ferrin has been a Field Services Director for SHRM since 2010. His primary responsibilities include managing state council relationships, serving as a liaison with state councils, chapters and volunteer leaders, and promoting SHRM membership. He attends State Council meetings and conferences, and, as his schedule permits, chapter events. Scott resides in Mesa Arizona and supports SHRM members in Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. He has served in a variety of volunteer organizations prior to joining SHRM as a member of the staff. When hired at SHRM, he was the Legislative Director for the East Valley Human Resources Association (EVHRA), a SHRM Chapter in Arizona. Scott is certified as a SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), a Certified Association Executive (CAE), and a Project Management Professional (PMP). Scott has over 20 years of work experience in HR. Prior to joining the SHRM staff, he held titles as a Senior Workforce Planner, Workforce Planning Manager, Talent Manager, Recruiter, Site HR Generalist, and Site HR Manager for companies ranging in size from Fortune 500 down to start-up companies with 20 employees. He has worked in the mining, financial services, insurance, and education industries during his career. Scott has a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Weber State University, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Chapter Meeting Cost:
There is a $5.00 off Early Bird rate in effect through May 7, 2019. Registration closes Monday, May 13, 2019.
We will be meeting in a Ballroom. When you arrive at the DoubleTree, drive around to the back of the hotel (the North side) and park in the back parking lot. The Ballroom is near the glass north entrance doors.
There is an additional $5.00 service charge for all late and walk-in registrations.
SHRMJC's Cancellation Policy: If you must cancel your reservation, please do so no later than 72-hours prior to the event. We are required to turn in the number of registered attendees to the DoubleTree for planning purposes and must pay for the number of attendees we anticipate, whether they attend or not. As a not-for-profit organization we simply can't afford to pay for no-shows. Thanks for understanding!
