Kyle Russell will cover key recent developments in wage and hour, focusing on the last 12 months.

He will discuss:

  • Takeaways from recent wage and hour cases.
  • Department of Labor guidance and regulations concerning overtime eligibility and calculation, tipped employees, and other areas of interest.
  • Pointers to ensure wage and hour compliance with a reduced work force due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as when employees return to work.

Speaker Bio:

Kyle Russell has more than 20 years' experience as a practicing attorney, focusing for the last decade on advising and defending employers on a wide variety of employment law issues, including wage and hour, hiring, discipline and discharge, and allegations of unlawful harassment, discrimination and retaliation. He has represented employers in a broad range of industries before the EEOC, the Department of Labor, OSHA, state agencies, and in state and federal courts. He is licensed in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. In 2014, Kyle was one of three attorneys to start the Overland Park office of Jackson Lewis, P.C., a national firm with more than 900 attorneys specializing in management-side employment law. The office now has 11 attorneys, and Kyle has served as managing principal of the office starting in 2019. He is also currently proud to serve as the chair of the Johnson County Developmental Supports governing board; the chair of the Kansas Democratic Party Rules and Bylaws Committee, and the Director of Legal and Legislative Affairs for SHRM-JC.
