Program Information:

Ever wonder why people who encounter a similar challenge or crisis may have very different outcomes psychologically? Why do some people find it hard to continue to function, while others seem to become stronger and function amazingly well? This presentation is based on resilience research that explores the characteristics, thoughts, behaviors, and activities that we can incorporate into our lives to increase our resiliency.

In this presentation:

  • Participants will learn definitions of resilience
  • Participants will learn about resilience research including the characteristics, thoughts, and behaviors we can all learn to incorporate into our lives to increase our personal and professional resiliency.

Speaker Bio:

Mary Ortiz is Supervisor of training and account services for Saint Luke’s LIFEWISE™ Employee Assistance Program (EAP). She has been part of the EAP staff since 1997. Education: Master of Social Work, Indiana University Bachelor of Arts, Sociology, Purdue University Licensed Clinical Social Worker Certified Professional Coach Applicable Background/Training Experience: Mary provides coaching, consultation and training for individuals, teams and organizations. She typically trains over 3,000 clients annually on topics such as: Teambuilding; Twenty Things Good Leaders Should Stop Doing; Wellbeing; Conflict Management; Enhancing Professionalism; Effective Communication; Personal and Professional Resilience.
