SUZANNE MCVEY, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
President
Suzanne has been in Human Resources for over 20 years serving as a business partner, mergers, and acquisitions leader, outsourcing partner, consultant and recruiter and is a Global Sourcing Manager for Infosys, a global IT organization.  In her role, she helps clients with people solutions that include outsourcing arrangements as well as acquisitions.  She graduated with an MBA from Washburn University and a BS from Kansas State University in Business and has earned her SPHR and SHRM-SCP.   Suzanne has worked in the manufacturing, medical and telecommunications industries supporting leadership in developing and implementing people strategies both domestically and internationally. She is passionate about employee engagement and how everyone plays a role in making it a great place to work.  


Kat Allen
President Elect

Kat has over 10 years’ experience in Human Resources and is currently a Recruiting Manager in the Human Resources Division at Morgan Hunter. Kat has extensive experience in connecting talented professionals with career opportunities and identifying a missing puzzle piece for HR teams in in the KC area. Kat earned her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in International Marketing and Merchandising from the University of Missouri- Columbia. Prior to joining Morgan Hunter, Kat was a Human Resources Manager in the retail industry where she led recruiting and onboarding efforts for multiple retail locations. Her recruiting expertise and hands-on knowledge of the HR industry makes her and invaluable resource for candidates and clients alike. In her spare time, Kat volunteers on the Advisory Board for a non-profit; MADI- Make A Difference Intimates.

 

  

CHERIE ZIEGLER, CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP
Past President
Cherie has over 25 years of experience in Human Resources, in multiple industries including restaurants, engineering consulting, mining & manufacturing, transportation & distribution, healthcare, software development, customer care call centers, and banking.  Cherie is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and has her PHR and SHRM-CP certifications; she earned her bachelor’s degree in HR Management from Ottawa University.  Cherie is passionate about making the workplace a good fit for employees and employers alike, and volunteers her spare time to animal rescue and people in job transition.

Sarah started her Human Resources career over 6 years ago as an HR Assistant for a bank, while she attained her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources at Kansas State University. This is where she found her passion to help people achieve their highest potential. This led her to join the KSU student SHRM Chapter as the Director Community Relations & Development. After college, Sarah worked for a banking software company as an HR Specialist and through her growth became a Senior HR Generalist. During that time, she served on the Central Kansas SHRM Chapter as the Director of Communications & Social Media. Sarah relocated to the Kansas City area in 2018 and became a member of SHRMJC. She is excited for this new opportunity to serve as the Director of College Relations for SHRMJC. Currently, she is the HR & Marketing Administrator for Kocher + Beck USA, L.P., a manufacturing company in Lenexa, KS. In her spare time, she volunteers in the community for KidsTLC.

Tausha Hammett, SHRM-CP
Director of Diversity & Inclusion

Tausha has over 10 years of Human Resources experience in industries including legal, manufacturing, financial. She is currently the Senior Human Resource Generalist at Honeywell FM&T. She has an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources from Ottawa University and a BA in Business Administration from Tennessee State University. With experience in public and private sector, she enjoy's all aspects of HR and is eager to continue to learn. She is passionate about being able to give back and change peoples lives. Tausha is excited and ready for the challenge of being the Director of Diversity and the ability to be apart of change.





Megan hightower martins, SHRM-SCP, GPHR
DIRECTOR OF emerging professionals

With more than 8 years experience working in non-profit, startup, and global environments, Megan is currently the Vice President of HR for Open Book Extracts, a vertically integrated CBD manufacturing company. She has extensive experience implementing HR initiatives designed to align company culture with organizational values and strategy. She has navigated complex challenges to significantly mitigate risk, streamline processes, and improve employee engagement in multi-state and multinational organizations. Megan has a B.A. in Management and Human Relations and holds SHRM-SCP and GPHR certifications. 



 
Lucas Fender, Crpc, crps
Director of Finance

The finance committee is led by Lucas Fender, a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist℠. Lucas works with businesses and individuals to design and implement financial plans. In this role he partners with Human Resource Professionals to save time and reduce workload by developing more efficient processes. Previously, Lucas owned and operated a website development company in Overland Park for six years. His passion for investments began at an early age in his hometown in Iowa, learning from his father who was an advisor for over thirty years. Lucas currently lives in Olathe with his wife and two children.



Kyle Russell, JD
Director of Government & Legislative Affairs

Kyle B. Russell is the Office Managing Principal of the Overland Park, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri, offices of Jackson Lewis P.C. He represents employers in administrative charges and lawsuits involving a wide variety of statutory and common law discrimination and retaliation cases. Mr. Russell has also defended wage and hour collective and class actions involving alleged misclassification, off-the-clock work, failure to pay the proper overtime rate, and failure to pay wages when due. He also has extensive experience prosecuting violations of covenants not to compete by former employees. In addition to employment litigation, Mr. Russell has commercial litigation experience defending multi-district and state-law consumer class actions and governmental investigations.  In addition,Mr. Russell has experience training managers on a wide variety of employment law issues.

Courtney Johnson, PHR, SHRM-CP

Courtney has worked in Human Resources for over ten years in the construction, manufacturing, and healthcare industries.  She is currently the Human Resources Manager with Summit Care, Inc.  Courtney’s diverse HR experience includes focuses in recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll,  compensation, and compliance. She graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and an MBA. Courtney is PHR and SHRM-CP certified. She has served on the SHRMJC board since 2016, and served on the Board of the Springfield, MO SHRM chapter prior.  Volunteering is something that is near and dear to Courtney’s heart, and she is excited for this new opportunity to serve as SHRMJC Membership Director.



Tammy Clemmons, SHRM-CP

The Programs Committee is led by Tammy Clemmons, HR, Payroll and A/P Manager for The Kansas City Country Club.  Beginning in 1992, Tammy has worked diligently in the private country club industry holding many different positions in Food & Beverage, Membership, General Management, and Human Resources.  She served in many roles for the Club Management Association of America, committees and Board of Directors, in both the local chapter and the national organization in Alexandria, Virginia.  Tammy lives in Jackson County, Missouri and carves out as much time as possible to spoil her two young granddaughters.




Michael Wilson
Director of Social Media

Michael Wilson has 5 years of recruiting experience in Human Resources.  He is currently a Senior Executive Recruiter for Ajilon, an HR specialty recruiting firm in Overland Park.  In his role he assists companies within various industries connect with top HR talent for permanent and consulting positions.  Michael is a relationship-oriented professional who enjoys his role in recruiting because he is passionate about assisting companies connect with top HR talent who will in turn assist the company drive their mission, vision and values.  Michael believes that employees are an organization’s most valuable asset, and he proudly serves as the liaison between a company’s hiring vision and potential talent.  Before transitioning into the recruiting/staffing industry Michael worked in higher education for the University of Wyoming and the University of Colorado within the areas of academic advising, career counseling, professional development, and athletics.  Michael graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education from the University of Wyoming. 



Janet Barrow

Janet Barrow has 25+ years of HR leadership experience.  Her background includes working with both public and private organizations in retail, aviation, and now water utilities.  Janet currently is the Director of Human Resources and Administration at WaterOne in Lenexa KS.  She also serves on the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Workforce Strategies Committee.  Before relocating to the Johnson County area in 2016, she was active as 2nd vice chair of Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) HR Steering Committee, and served as a Board Member of Highland Park Community Development Corporation (Louisville, KY).  Janet holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Spalding University, a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Louisville, and a Doctorate in Leadership Education from Spalding University (Louisville, KY). She’s been a member of SHRM National and Louisville SHRM since 2000, and joined SHRMJC in 2016.

 

Lisa Miller

Lisa Miller is an accomplished professional with more than twenty years of human resources experience in the health care, hospitality and banking industries.  In addition, she has sixteen years of project management experience.   She is a leader who thrives in a highly collaborative work environment.  Currently, Lisa works in Human Resources at Seaboard Foods.  Lisa has been serving as the SHRMJC Chapter Management Professional since 2015.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Personnel Administration from the University of Kansas.  Lisa is a SHRM National member and has been a member of SHRMJC since 2009.
